Daniel Vasconcellos Paiola (born May 4 1989, in Campinas) is a Brazilian badminton player. He was the very first Brazilian badminton player to earn an individual medal at the Pan American Games when he was awarded a bronze in the men’s singles competition during the 2011 Games, losing in the semi-finals to Guatemalan Kevin Cordon. He has been a medalist at ten of the Pan American Badminton Championships, and is a single national champion.
He also participated in the 2013 BWF World Championships in Kuala Lumpur. In the singles event for men the first time he played, he fell in his encounter to Austrian David Obernosterer (21-17, 11-21 17-21). He also played mixed doubles where Paula Pereira as well as Paula Pereira lost in the first round to the Austrian team comprising Roman Zirnwald and Elisabeth Baldauf (15-21 17-21). In August of 2015 tournament, however it was his turn to avenge his defeat to Obernosterer with a win over him by scores of 21-14, 11-21, and 24-22. In the second round, he lost to Lin Dan. match against Lin Dan (widely considered one of the best badminton players to ever play) scoring 14-21 and 14-21.
In August 2011 Paiola took part in his first 2011 BWF World Championships in London. Paiola lost his first game against Kazushi Yamada from Japan (13-21 9-21). He also played in the doubles for men with fellow the compatriot Hugo Arthuso. They lost the first round against Chris Adcock and Andrew Ellis (10-21 11-21).

Paiola was born in Campinas His father passed away when he was 1 year old. He began playing tennis and badminton, but he switched to badminton when he was thirteen after a shoulder injury caused him to miss a one year. When he was still a teenager his mother took him to play with Marco Vasconcelos in Portugal under Marco Vasconcelos, a fifteen-time Portuguese national champion. his training brought his across Spain, Denmark and Malaysia. His first international competition took place in 2007 at the Pan Am Junior Badminton Championships where he played in the boys’ under-19 singles and mixed doubles competitions.
Paiola played his first professional world debut in the South Africa International in Cape Town in which he took home an award of gold in the men’s singles competition.
