Daniel Hope is one of the most popular and richest Violinist who was born on August 17, 1973 in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Hope performs in the 1737 Guarneri “ex-Lipinski” violin. Hope was the director of the documentary film of 2013 The Secrets of the Violin that explored the past of making violins beginning with Amati, Stradivari and Guarneri to contemporary makers such as Samuel Zygmuntowicz.

Hope is currently in his second marriage to painting artist Silvana Kaiser. The couple resided in Vienna before moving to Berlin in the year 2016.

Hope has served as an associate artistic director of the Savannah Music Festival. In April 2015 he was named the new music director of the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, effective in 2016. On 16 March 2018, at the conclusion of a joint performance by the Zurich Chamber Orchestra and New Century Chamber Orchestra at which he served as concertmaster, Hope was announced as the latter ensemble’s new music and artistic director.

Hope has been born in Durban, South Africa, and is of Irish and Jewish German descent, his maternal grandparents were originally came from Berlin and who had been able to escape Nazism. His father is author Christopher Hope, FRSL, and his mother Eleanor Hope worked as an assistant to Yehudi Menuhin. When he was six months old his family relocated out of South Africa to London, due to his father’s anti-apartheid stances. The UK Hope had a schooling by Highgate School and studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School located in Stoke d’Abernon. In 2011, he was appointed as a Visiting Professor of Violin through the Royal Academy of Music, where he studied with Zakhar Bron. He was awarded an award (DipRAM) as well as an award of scholarship (FRAM).
