He was the faded movie director Max von Mayerling, alongside Patti LuPone, in the original (1993) cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard. In December 2010, Benzali joined ABC’s General Hospital. Benzali played a character named Theodore Hoffman, a reference to his role on the mid-1990s television series Murder One.

The other role was Reggie who was an alleged drug smuggler who worked at a car dealership Suckers (2001)”. Benzali is a native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil He was being the child of Lee Cook, a cook along with Carlo Benzali, a salesman who was also the actor of Brazilian theatre as well as Yiddish theatre. His family is Brazilian Jews. Daniel Benzali is the middle child of three. The family relocated to the United States in 1953, and the boys were educated within Brooklyn, New York City.
In 1985, he appeared as a character in The James Bond film A View to a Kill as W. G. Howe The Californian director for Oil and Mines, based in San Francisco City Hall. The character was shot to death in his office in the film by Max Zorin (played by Christopher Walken).

Bochco later revealed that he fired Benzali because he refused to leave his home before he completed his morning bowel movement and was perpetually late to the set.
