Dana Turner Coons Thiele (born on 27th September 1978 Fairfax County, Virginia) is a American marathon runner. She has twice qualified to compete in the US Olympic Trials (10,000m in the year 2004, and a marathon in 2008) and in 2007 was ranked 16th overall in the United States for the marathon, with 2:38.18. In 2008, at the Olympic Marathon trials in Boston, Coons finished 30th in 2:41:31. The twins of her, Jason Turner Coons, played lacrosse in the club in the varsity team at James Madison University.

Coons has been engaged with the late Dr. Robert Thiele on June 7th on the 7th of June, 2008. The wedding took place in Madison County, Virginia. Thiele is a former athlete in the University of Virginia. Thiele was also an ex- neurosurgery physician who recently made the switch to anesthesiology. The couple lives within Charlottesville, VA.

Coons attended school at University of Virginia, where she was a Fine Arts major. In her fourth and last year, she took home the ACC title at 10,000m and was also an NCAA qualifying athlete for the same distance. When she graduated at UVA, Coons spent two years in Charlottesville, VA as an assistant coach at UVA during which time, she reduced her personal best of 10,000 meters by 33.07 seconds (Cardinal Invitational 2003).

Coons was a student at James Madison High School, where she graduated in 1997. In high school, she was a twice District champion over the 1,600-meter distance (as as a sophomore and a junior) and was also a the cross country champion of the district and track in the 3,200m in junior.
