Daniel Renton Skinner (born 25 January 1973) is an English comedian and actor who performs on the fields of stage, film and television. Skinner frequently plays an actor in the role of Angelos Epithemiou and is a part of the British five-man sketch troupe Dutch Elm Conservatoire. The group was nominated to win an award called the Perrier Award in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2005.
In 2010, Skinner performed on the Epithemiou character on the UK tour, titled Angelos Epithemiou & Friends Christmas Show In response to high demand, venues began to add additional dates in the month of December.
In December 2011 Skinner won the Best Comedy Breakthrough Artist at The British Comedy Awards for his work as Epithemiou over the previous year. In the same month, he appeared as Epithemiou on the Christmas special of The Rob Brydon Show.
In August 2011, Renton appeared as Epithemiou in BBC Radio 1’s Fun & Filth Cabaret, part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. He ended each of the shows with a HARDtalk-style interview.
Skinner has been featured in a variety of TV comedies which include Mike Bassett: Manager (ITV1), The Office Christmas specials (BBC1), My Family (BBC1), Yonderland (Sky1) and Coupling (BBC2). Skinner was also regularly a performer and writer in Katy Brand’s Big Ass Show for ITV2. He appeared in the second series of The Armstrong and Miller Show on the BBC in 2009 and in the third season in the year 2010. He was also Reggie’s chauffeur in his remake version of Reggie Perrin.
