Dan Kwaku Botwe was born Feb 26, 1958 located in the Eastern Region of Ghana. He was enrolled in the Presbyterian Primary and Middle Schools in Mabang in the district of Ahafo-Ano in the Ashanti Region for his primary education. He received his GCE Ordinary Level certificate from Kumasi Academy, and his GCE Advanced level certificate in 1977 at Achimota School. He was accepted into Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Botwe was a candidate and won Botwe contested and won the New Patriotic Party General Secretary election in 1998. Botwe was a candidate for the New Patriotic Party General Secretary election. He played a key role for the election to John Kufour as President of Ghana during the 2000 general elections. He was also a part of various roles within the New Patriotic Party, including Secretary of State for the Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party, and Director of Operations and Research at the National Headquarters. He was described by President Akufo Addo as “a heavy hitter, a political weight” in recognition of his accomplishment in bringing his party, the New Patriotic Party out of the opposition and into Government in.

Botwe contested the 2007 New Patriotic Party primaries for flag bearer. The primaries were organized to find a replacement for John Agyekum Kufour, who had served his full term as the party’s flag bearer and President of Ghana. The contest pitched 16 other aspirants against Botwe. The elections took place in Accra on 22 December 2007. Botwe had asserted that the flag bearer position needed a youthful person and should not be considered as a “retirement package” for the aged. He lost the election to Nana Akufo-Addo.

Dan Botwe contested the parliamentary election in Okere in 2008 after the incumbent, Brandford Kwame Daniel Adu, had decided to step down as the constituency’s parliamentarian. Botwe obtained 11,974 votes out of the 19,684 total votes cast, representing 60.8% of the vote, to become the new member of parliament. He went on to win two successive parliamentary elections in 2012 and 2016.

When Botwe was in 1985, he began work as a computer analyst by Ghana Cocobod as a computer analyst. The company was in operation until 1993, at which point Botwe began working for a private company. He was named director at Danmaud Limited, a private company based in Accra.

Daniel Kweku Botwe (born on 26th February 1958) is a Ghanaian ICT expert and politician. He is currently the Member of Parliament for the Okere constituency located in the Eastern Region of Ghana. He was the Minister of Communications during the John Agyekum Kufour administration and since 2017, he is Minister of Regional Reorganization and Development in the Nana Akufo Akufo Akufo Akufo.

While at KNUST at KNUST, he was elected as the secretary national for the National Union of Ghana Students from 1982 until 1983. His appointment coincided with the start of the military regime which was led by the Provisional National Defence Council. His political activism and critique of the ruling class caused him to be targeted as an unruly person. He was sent to exile along with others Ghanaians in the Ivory Coast. He went back to Ghana to accept the position of computer analyst.

From 2006 to 2007 Botwe served as the Minister for Information in the John Agyekum Kufour administration. He succeeded Kwamina Bartels.
