Damir Urban is one of the most popular and richest Songwriter who was born on September 19, 1968 in Rijeka, Primorje-Gorski Kotar, Croatia. Damir Urban was born the 19th of September at Rijeka, Croatia, a town which is now famous for its music scene. It was here that he formed his first group La Bellona as the bassist and the main songwriter. It was with this group that he played live for the first time. However, very little remains of the music of La Bellona.

Damir Urban dropped his debut solo album in the year 1996 in 1996, titled Otrovna kisa (Poison Rain) to both commercial and critical praise. The album had hits like “Astronaut”, but the greatest moment in his professional career to come.

After the tremendous success of Žena dijete, Urban was working on a new album entitled Merkur, and two singles were released: “Aroma Satanica” and “Moja”, whose video was banned from many Croatian television stations due to graphic depictions of homosexual sex. More than six years passed, and yet Merkur did not see daylight while Damir Urban wrote music for several plays. Finally, in 2004, it was announced that Merkur would be scrapped in favor of another album entitled Retro which was released that same year to mixed reviews but to commercial success.

Urban & 4 released their new album, Hello, on 29 May 2009.

They released their second studio album Pustinje came out in the year 1994. just after when the group broke up because of differences regarding the direction that Laufer was to be following. The greatest hits album by Laufer, Epitaph, was released through Croatia Records in 2004.

Damir Urban (born 19 September 1968) is a well-known Croatian rock musician, best recognized for his singing and composing work for Laufer and also for his own work in the group Urban & 4.

In 1986, Urban was part of a second group as a vocalist. Laufer one that was a major part of that Croatian rock scene in the 1990s. Laufer released their debut album The greatest of 1993,, which produced hit songs such as “Lopov Jack”, “Svijet za nas” and, without doubt, their most popular track, “Moja voda”. Urban composed all of the lyrics and wrote the majority of the songs.

In 1998, he released Žena dijete (Woman-Child) to even greater critical and commercial acclaim, and the album spawned a string of number ones: “Mala truba”, “Odlučio sam da te volim” and “Black Tattoo” (which features the Split hip-hop group The Beat Fleet) all received extensive airplay. He refused to receive the Porin (Croatia’s equivalent to a Grammy) for the album, as it was nominated for best alternative album and Urban believed his album to be a rock album, therefore, he considered he would be stealing a prize from real alternative artists.
