Damian Squire (born 15 November 1973 in Adelaide, South Australia) is an ex-South Australian Australian rules player. He played for Port Adelaide in the Australian Football League (AFL) as well as the two clubs North Adelaide and Sturt in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Squire is the stepbrother of the former Norwood as well as Central District footballer Mark Jones.
Damian Squire represented South Australia seven times in Interstate Football and in 2003 was awarded the honour of being the captain of his state in an 17.16 (118) and 8.10 (58) win over Western Australia at the Fremantle Oval in Perth.
Damian Squire was assistant coach of the struggling Division 1 A Grade side Broadview Football Club alongside Mark Kemp and former Adelaide Crows player Wayne Weidemann. Damien moved with Weidemann to coach the Walkerville Football Club for the 2017 season and was reappointed for the 2018 season.
In 1999, he left North Adelaide and joined Sturt to “experience something new” and was able to earn consecutive Magarey Medals in 2000 and 1999, establishing his status as one of the legends of the league as well as making him the only Sturt player to be awarded the award in consecutive years. Squire has also been one of the Double Blues’ best and most fair winner in 1999 as well as 2005 and 2005, joining the likes of Double Blues greats as Paul Bagshaw, Rick Davies and Peter Motley in winning the award several times.

When he was a rookie at 17 years old, the player was not allowed to join the premiership team of North Adelaide for his debut season in 1991, as the Roosters were in a position to recall the Adelaide Crows (AFL) players who had played in enough SANFL events in 1991 in order to make it to the finals. He took part in the first SANFL Grand Final for Sturt in the 9-point loss they suffered against Port Adelaide in 1998, and was part of the legendary 2002 Sturt team that defeated the the current champions Central District by 47 points (13.14 (92) to 6.9 (45)) at AAMI Stadium to win the first flag of the club since.
Half forward Squire had 145 appearances for the Roosters between 1991 and 1998, and established himself as one of the top footballers throughout South Australia. In 1996, he joined Port Adelaide for their first season in the AFL and was also a part of the Power’s first AFL team in 1997, playing Collingwood on the Melbourne Cricket Ground, picking four kicks and four handballs. After participating in four games and scoring four goals during the Power’s first season, the player was then surprisingly removed from the team at the close of the season. He returned to full-time in the SANFL with North Adelaide with whom he was still playing in 1997 despite not being picked as a player for Port Adelaide.
Squire retired from football at the end of the 2006 SANFL season having played 258 SANFL games, 145 for North and 113 for Sturt, and kicking 290 goals. He also played 4 AFL games for Port Adelaide, kicking 4 goals. As a result of his 258 SANFL games, Squire is a member of the SANFL 200 Club.
