In a letter penned by Mrs. Mandela, she admitted to giving Dali Mpofu R160 000 (worth over R700 000 in 2019 terms) of misappropriated ANC funds. In 2014, he left the ANC after 33 years and joined Julius Malema’s EFF.
Mpofu served as CEO of the embattled SABC for 4 years. He was suspended with payment for 18 months. He reiceived a R12 million golden handshake in August 2009 that marked the end of a disastrous period for the public broadcaster.
