North Col on May 15 in the 15th of May, 2006 around 10:30 a.m. Beijing time.
Sherpa claims that Abenojar didn’t succeed in his Everest attempt. A Nepali guide and porter (Tshiring Jangbu Sherpa) has denied telling the now FPMEE, which was later disbanded First Philippine Mount Everest Expedition (FPMEE) that the 44-year-old Filipino adventurer Dale Abenojar did not reach the summit of Mount Everest on May 15 in 2006. In a call interview with Nepal conducted by Philippine STAR newspaper reporter Allan Rainier Ronda, Tshiring Jangbu Sherpa admitted to The Philippine STAR he had not had a conversation with the Dr. Ted Esguerra, the former expedition physician of FPMEE or any other member of the group. “I didn’t talk to anybody”, Tshiring said. “He (Abenojar) reached the top. That is the truth.” Tshiring who led Abenojar to summit of the highest mountain in the world He said that the summit certification that was issued by the Chinese-Tibet Mountains Association (CTMA) in respect of Abenojar is the an authoritative source. “They (CTMA) conducted an interview with Dale in the course of interviewing him questions about his experiences, Tshiring said. “I was also interviewed. But not in a group with them, as you may have guessed. All the climbers who reached the summit the same day were also interrogated. From those interviews, the CTMA issues certifications.” As per the certificate of Abenojar it states that the CTMA verified that he achieved the summit of Mount Everest in the morning of May 15th 06, 2006 via Tibet, China or north slope or north col of the famous summit. It is worth noting that the FPMEE has consistently questioned Abenojar’s feat of beating its two other member Leo Oracion and Erwin “Pastor” Emata, who had made it to the top of Mount Everest via the Nepal side or the south slope, and achieved it between May 17-18 the 17th and 18th of May, 2006. The FPMEE has dismissed his CTMA Summit certificate in the past as an “forgery” and his claim was a “hoax”, and maintained that Oracion and Emata were the first and the second Filipinos to climb Mount Everest.
After 10 years he resumed his bid to climb Everest. He pawned his car, a Range Rover to support his climb. During the early stage of his expedition he took a short alpine mountaineering course provided by his Sherpa and was given proper acclimatization.
