Daisuke Naito (Nei Teng Da Zhu , Naito Daisuke, born on August 30 1974) is an ex- professional boxer who hails from Japan. He was one of the previous WBC and the champion for lineal flyweight. He is also the an earlier Japanese as well as OPBF Flyweight champion.

Naito took on Wonjongkam for his second time on the night of the 10th of October, 2005 however, he lost the fight by decision following the fight being interrupted because of an injury during the seventh round. Naito took home his Japanese flyweight championship for the third time, in February 2006, and also won his OPBF the flyweight crown in June of 2006, with a 6th round TKO.

Naito made one defense of the OPBF title before returning it in February,

  1. He also announced his decision to challenge Pongsaklek Wonjongkam for the third time, but found it difficult to gather sponsors. The match was finalized on July 6; only 12 days prior to the actual match-up. Naito defeated Pongsaklek Wonjongkam on July 18, 2007 by 12-round unanimous decision, winning the WBC and lineal flyweight titles five years after his first world title shot. Wonjongkam had made 17 defenses of the world title, and had not lost in over a decade.

On December 23, 2008, Naito won in his 4th title defense by stopping Shingo Yamaguchi in the 11th round.

On June 6, 2004, Naito dominated his opponent to take home his first Japanese flyweight championship. He made his debut defense later in the year, taking out the opponent just 24 seconds into the first round , setting records for the most short Japanese flyweight title fight ever. He fought twice before he was able to regain his title.

Naito was a professional for the first time in the month of October in 1996. He had an unbeaten record and was able to challenge the future WBA flyweight champ Takefumi Sakata for the Japanese flyweight title on the 16th of July 2001, but failed to claim the title in 10 rounds of the draw.

Naito was in Thailand in 2002 to take his debut world title shot in 2002, where he fought Pongsaklek Wonjongkam to win the WBC and the lineal flyweight title. Naito was eliminated 34 seconds in the initial round, and set records for fastest knockouts of an international flyweight title bout ever.

He received illegal blows to the thighs on several occasions, and was thrown down onto the ring in a wrestling-like maneuver in the 12th round. Koki Kameda’s upcoming fight was cancelled after video footage was produced showing that he encouraged his younger brother to foul Naito in- between rounds, and Daiki Kameda’s boxing license was suspended for one year. The fight received widespread coverage by the Japanese media because of the heated exchanges between Naito and the Kameda boxing family. Daiki Kameda had described Naito as a “cockroach” prior to the fight, and stated that he would commit harakiri (ritual suicide) if he were to lose. The victory gave Naito celebrity status in Japan, and he has appeared in numerous Japanese television programs and commercials since then.
