The year 2001 was the time Dekel played the lead role in the Broadway musical “Shilgiya” (Snow White) and also composed the music. Near at the conclusion of her show Dekel continued to sing despite the passing of her mom. She was featured in “Agadat Deshe” (A Grass Tale) the drama series which had two seasons.

Dafna Dekel was born Ashdod, Israel, to the Yemenite-Jewish clan. Her discovery came while she was serving within the Nahal entertainment group that was part of the Israel Defense Forces in 1985-1986. Following her discharge of the military, Dekel was cast in the Israeli musical Salah Shabati produced in honor of Israel’s 40th anniversary. In 1989 Dekel released her debut self- titled album. The album featured 4 songs composed and written by Dekel Her biggest hit songs were composed for her by other people. The year 1989 was the first time she performed in the show for children called “Festigal” with the song “Mah koreh li?” (What’s taking place to me?) and then performed (What’s happening to me?) and performed a Yemenite Medley with Yosefi Sisters as well as Margalit Tzan’ani.

In March 2008, Dafna Dekel released the single “Yoman yakar” (Dear Diary), the first song from her third album “Yoman” (diary). She wrote and composed most of the lyrics in collaboration with her brothers, who are also musicians.
