Thigpen and former Longhorns teammate J. B. Cox returned to the Texas Longhorns as volunteer student assistants in 2010. Thigpen then went on to work as a commercial lender at R Bank Texas from September 5, 2012 until January 15, 2014

Thigpen completed his college career in the University of Texas and won the College World Series in 2002 in which he was selected as a member of the All- Tournament Team. He also was a player in the for the collegiate summer league with the Cape Cod Baseball League for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. Thigpen was picked for the Blue Jays in the second round of the 2004 Major League Baseball Draft with the 57th overall selection.
He was summoned from minor leagues on the 5th of June, 2007 and made his MLB debut at the age of 6 on June 6, 2007 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, where he was 1-4 at first base. In 2007 Thigpen hit .238 with no home runs with 11 RBIs, and a .294 on-base percentage, and a .287 Slugging percentage in 47 games. The 2008 season was the first time Thigpen had less time on the field as a result of Rod Barajas coming to Toronto. On the 26th of September the 26th of September, 2008 Thigpen hit his first and only home run in what was later to be his final game for his career as a major leaguer. Thigpen finished the season with a batting average of .176 by hitting one homer as well as one RBI.
On February 4, 2009, Thigpen was designated for assignment to clear a roster spot for newly acquired pitcher Brian Burres. On February 6, Thigpen was sent outright to the Blue Jays’ AAA affiliate, the Las Vegas 51s.
