Curtis Allen Young (born April 16th 1960) is a former professional baseball player and pitching trainer. He was a part or all of 11 seasons with Major League Baseball, and was previously a pitcher’s coach with The Oakland Athletics and the San Francisco Giants.
On the 2nd of November on the 2nd of November, 2010 The Boston Red Sox announced he was appointed to fill the team’s pitching coach’s position. In October of 2011 after the Red Sox’ September collapse following their September collapse, the Red Sox granted permission for Young as well as other coaches to look for different opportunities. On the 21st of October, Young was re-hired by the Oakland Athletics as their pitching coach following only one season in Boston. On April 25 2013 Young was dismissed for the only the second time during his MLB career after arguing over the call to check swing that was made by the umpire Jim Reynolds. Young was released from his duties at the Athletics on June 15th of 2017.
In the years prior to being appointed as the A’s pitching coach in the year 2004, Young spent four seasons in the same role within the Oakland minor- league system. Young was released by the A’s following the 2010 season in response to an offer of an one-year contract.

Young was selected in the Athletics in the fourth round of the draft of 1981. He was drafted by the major league club in 1983, and played for the A’s throughout the 1991 season, beginning with the team’s opening day in 1987. In 1992, he was a player with both Kansas City Royals and New York Yankees before joining Oakland in 1993.
