Cris Bonacci is one of the most popular and richest Singer who was born on October 15, 1964 in Myrtleford, Victoria, Australia. Cristina “Cris” Bonacci (born 15 October 1964) is an native of Australia, and is a producer, songwriter, and musician. She was the lead guitarist of The British heavy metal group Girlschool (1984 until 1992, 2004) and also performed guitar sessions to other musicians.

Cris Bonacci was born in Myrtleford in northern Victoria and was raised on a rural farm close to Melbourne where her family relocated at the age of “11 or 12” years old. She began playing the guitar right after arriving in Melbourne due to her love of the instrument. Her first introduction to music was the guitar playing of her father and her uncle’s involvement in the band in addition to experiencing flamenco guitar by her parents’ Spanish neighbors. She describes her style of guitar to be “pretty much” self taught and assisted by occasionally guitar classes (which included a few jazz) however, her primary musical education came from listening to old rock albums and rehearsing to the songs. The year 1985 was when she said that her major inspirations came from rock guitar players Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Beck as well as early Black Sabbath albums.

Bonacci wrote lyrics, music and produced for a variety of artists. She wrote mostly for the bands she was a member of, but she has also written for and produced other artists, such as All Saints and Samantha Fox. In 2003, Bonacci wrote and produced the song “Look Up” which was released on the dance compilation CD Fashion Lounge: Id Models, published in the US by Water Music Records. She also co-produced and engineered Dawne Adams’ album Assume Nothing in 2004. She is currently affiliated with Electracult, a band she formed with Michelle Mullen in January 2005. Electracult released their first full-length release Electracult Me on 15 April 2008, on Renaissance Records. Since 2000, much of her focus has been on software training. In June, 2015, Bonacci was interviewed extensively about her musical career on the Australian Rock Show podcast.

Following Sweet Jayne Bonacci departed back to United Kingdom to work as session musicians after being invited from Mike Oldfield. In London Bonacci joined the all-female group, Hard Rock She as the lead guitarist. She also sang lead vocalist Jackie “Jacqui” Bodimead and the former Rock Goddess bassist Tracey Lamb who Bonacci would later join forces along with for Girlschool. Actually the all-female heavy-metal group Girlschool did not have a leader guitarist following Kelly Johnson’s departure. upon hearing about Bonacci they invited her as well as Bodimead, a keyboardist, to join the group. They both agreed. During their time in Girlschool (1984 from 1984 to 1992) Bonacci released four albums: Running Wild, Nightmare at Maple Cross, Take a Bite and Girlschool performing frequently throughout the world.

Bonacci along with Sally Zylstra formed Sweet Jayne in the early part of 1975 in Melbourne together with Robyn Clark playing drums, and Sally Zylstra on bass guitar. They sought a lead vocalist and came across Chris Scheri who also played the flute. The band gained a large local fan base in Melbourne and also recorded a number of demos as well as an EP between 1977 and 1983.

The EP, titled “Self-titled,” was released in January 1980 . It contained five tracks “Ambiguous Girl”, “Omniscience”, “Some People”, “State of Mind” and “Crushed and Crazy”. Australian musicologist Ian McFarlane, opined that it “highlighted Bonacci’s crunching guitar riffs offset by Scheri’s melodic vocals and lilting flute lines.” After that, Brendan O’Shea replaced Zylstra on bass guitar, and John Zaffarese replaced Clark on drums. In October 1981 , this group released one single, “Icarus”, with Fab Versace replacing Zaffarese as drums player before being replaced by Billy George in 1982. The group broke up in January 1983.

In a period of inactivity for Girlschool in 1990, she joined up with British rock singer Toyah Willcox, performing on GMTV to promote Willcox’ album Ophelia’s Shadow. In the years 1991 and 1992, Bonacci and Willcox (and Bonacci’s bandmates in Girlschool Enid Williams and Kim McAuliffe) formed the short-lived band She Devils, which made two short tours around Europe. After the She Devils project, Bonacci finally left Girlschool and joined Marc Almond’s touring band. In December 2004, however, Bonacci re-joined Girlschool for a one-off gig at the London Garage alongside original guitarist Kelly Johnson and current guitarist Jackie Chambers. She also played at the tribute gig for Kelly Johnson on 20 August 2007 in London. After leaving Girlschool, she worked also as a session guitarist and became a member of Jonathan Ross’ house band for the British TV show Saturday Zoo, where she backed international artists such as Suzanne Vega, and k.d. lang.
