Cory Robert Luebke (born (1985-03-04 ) March 4 1985) was an American former professional baseball player. He was a player in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Diego Padres and Pittsburgh Pirates.
He split his 2009 season between the Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore Storm and the Double-A San Antonio Missions. The season began in Lake Elsinore for the second consecutive season. He was 8-2, in strikeouts with 80 and an 2.34 ERA in 14 games which included four started. He was transferred to the Missions which he pitched 3-3 and an 3.70 ERA in nine games which included three of which were starts. Luebke had a total of 11-4 with 112 strikeouts as well as the 2.78 ERA in 129/3 innings pitched. Luebke said that his success in 2009 to working out the some kinks that he was putting in to his delivery. Luebke was named the top twelve prospect of the Texas League by Baseball America. Luebke played in the pitching position for Team USA in the 2009 Baseball World Cup. He pitched an almost perfectly pitched game to Team Canada. He began the game in the championship by striking out seven while throwing 4/3 innings.
On July 11, 2010, Luebke was promoted to the Triple-A Portland Beavers of the Pacific Coast League. While with the San Antonio Missions, Luebke went 5–1 with a 2.40 ERA and a WHIP of 0.94. He made 9 starts with Portland, going 5–0 with a 2.97 ERA.
Luebke started 2011 in the Padres bullpen. He pitched in 29 games in relief, posting a 3.23 ERA in 39 innings with 43 strike-outs against 15 walks. On June 26, Luebke was promoted to the Padres starting rotation. He started 17 games, going 8–9 with a 3.31 ERA. Over 100⁄3 innings as a starter, he struck out 111 batters and walked 29, holding opposing hitters to a .218 batting average. His success in 2011 raised his profile to that of a front-of-the-rotation starter.
In 2008, Luebke began the year with the Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore Storm, however, he was later moved to Class A Fort Wayne Wizards. In Lake Elsinore Luebke was 3-3 and had an 6.84 ERA in 17 games and 15 of which were starts. While with Fort Wayne, Luebke went 3-3, with 40 strikeouts, as well as an 2.89 ERA in 10 games which included every start. Luebke was 6-9, 100 strikeouts, and an 5.12 ERA in 128/3 innings pitched.

A resident of Maria Stein, Ohio, Luebke was a student at Marion Local High School and The Ohio State University. The year 2006 was the first time he was a player in college summer baseball for the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League. He was picked to the Padres in the first round of the 2007 Major League Baseball draft.
Luebke was a professional for his first season, 2007 , at three different levels within the San Diego Padres’ organization. He began his career as a short-season player for the Eugene Emeralds of the Northwest League. He finished 3-0, in strikeouts with 26, and an 1.46 ERA in eight games with three of which were starts. He was then promoted to Class A Fort Wayne Wizards of the Midwest League, where he had a 1-2 record in strikeouts with 30, and an 3.33 ERA in five games which included all starts. Then, he was promoted into the Class-A Advanced Lake Elsinore Storm of the California League, where he was a -1 in five strikes and an 7.71 ERA in two games and one of which was a start. Luebke was 5-3 with 61 strikeouts with an 3.07 ERA in 58/3 innings pitched.
Luebke was promoted to the Padres on September 1, 2010 and made his first major league start on September 3, where he got his first loss, pitching 5 innings and giving up four runs. He earned his first career win in his next start, throwing 6 innings and only giving up 2 hits and 1 walk.
