Corey Leshaad Wimberly (born October 26th in 1983) is an American manager of Minor League Baseball (MiLB) for the Boston Red Sox organization, as well as a former professional outfielder and infielder. In the 2018 season, Wimberly was one of only nine African American managers, across the 160 teams that comprise MiLB.
In December of 2010, Wimberly was traded to the Indianapolis Indians, Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. In Indianapolis in the season of 2011, he scored .238 over 56 matches and spent three time in the injured list. In November of 2011 Wimberly decided to become an unrestricted free agent. In December of 2011, Wimberly signed with the New York Mets and was assigned to their Triple-A team, which was the Buffalo Bisons. In his 39 games with Buffalo Wimberly scored .301 as he spent almost 2 months in the disabled waiting list. He was released in the month of November, 2012 and decided to sign an unrestricted free agent.
Wimberly finished his playing career with Leones de Yucatán of the Mexican League during the 2015 and 2016 seasons, batting .340 and .338, respectively.
Wimberly spent 10 seasons playing in the minors, including four seasons at the Triple-A level, before retiring after the 2016 season. Listed at 5 feet 8 inches (1.73 m) tall and 170 pounds (77 kg), he was a switch hitter and threw right-handed.
In total, in 10 minor league seasons Wimberly hit .289 with 253 RBIs over 820 games. He played in games at all positions in the infield, with the exception of first base and every outfield position. He stole more than 50 bases in the course of a season three times, and also 59 for his Double-A Tulsa Drillers in 2008.

Wimberly was a student at Alcorn State University in Mississippi where he played his in college ball for the Braves. As a freshman in 2004, Wimberly earned multiple honors: Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American, SWAC Freshman and Newcomer of the Year, First-Team All-Conference, and Second-Team All-Blackcollegebaseball.com. After hitting .420 over 42 matches in the year 2004, he slugged .462 for 38 times in 2005.
Wimberly was chosen for the Colorado Rockies in the sixth round of the 2005 MLB Draft; he signed with the Rockies and received an initial signing bonus of $150,000. Wimberly was a part of the Rockies Farm system starting in 2005 to 2008, and was at the top of Double-A. In February 2009 the team traded him with the Oakland Athletics for Matt Murton. While in Oakland, Wimberly spent most of 2009 playing Double-A, at .296 over 70 contests and the entirety of 2010 in Triple-A, hitting .284 during 135 contests.
In April 2013, Wimberly joined the Gwinnett Braves, Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, where he hit .234 in 25 games. The Braves released him at the end of May. In June, he joined the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. He hit .260 in 59 games for Pensacola. In November 2013, he again elected to become a free agent. In December 2013, Wimberly signed with the Minnesota Twins, and was assigned to the Double-A New Britain Rock Cats. During the 2014 season, he hit .252 in 72 games for New Britain, and additionally played in several Gulf Coast League games while rehabilitating from an injury.
