On February 7, 2019, his nomination was reported out of committee by a 13–9 vote. On June 11, 2019, the Senate voted 62–34 to invoke cloture on his nomination. On June 12, 2019, the Senate confirmed his nomination by a vote of 62–34. He received his judicial commission on June 18, 2019.
