Constanze Engelbrecht, born the 6th of January 1950, in Munich, Germany to actress Alice Franz [de] and the sculptor Gen Golch. Her first appearance was voice actor on the show’s character “Jeff” in the German version of the TV show Lassie in which she appeared throughout six years. She made her debut as a TV actress when she was ten years old in the TV film Und no more Jessica (1965) together with Horst Naumann, and Sascha Hehn. Engelbrecht’s initial aim was to be an operatic soprano. She trained in the Richard Strauss Conservatory of Munich as well as in the Salzburg Mozarteneum and finally at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London before moving into acting , and working with the guidance of Rosemarie Fedel [de] . She was a performer in live theater as well as on television. Engelbrecht was well-known at the theaters in Munich and performed on stage in Paris on stage at “Theatre de la ville”.
Engelbrecht passed away on July 21 2000 in the Frauenklinik of the of the Roten Kreuzes hospital in Munich. She was combating breast cancer from 1998, and it had spread to her brain and the liver.
Between 1987 and 1990, Engelbrecht was a household name in Germany for her role as Brigitte Sanders due to the character she played in the TV series Diese Drombuschs. She played the sly lover of Martin Sanders (played by Michael Degen) and will take every step to end the relationship her ex-husband has together with Vera Drombuschs (played by Witta Pohl). The year 1990 was the time she produced an acclaimed television film called Der Eindringling that was one of her most well-known performances. In the 90s she appeared on television finishing the mini-series Die Frauen von Bonne Esperance (1990) and a variety of other successful shows like Eurocops (1990), The Old Fox (1991), Ein Fall fur zwei (1992), Freunde furs Leben (1993), Praxis Bulowbogen (1994), Schlosshotel Orth (1997) among others. Her work was praised for the TV mini- series Der Schattenmann [de] (1996) featuring Mario Adorf, Heinz Hoenig, Heiner Lauterbach and Gunter Strack. She was also praised for her lead part as a lead character in Die Beischlafdiebin (1998). Her final role was played by Gerard Depardieu in a television production of The Count from Monte Cristo.
