Clinton Fearon was born near Kingston He grew up near Kingston, but he soon relocated into St. Catherine, a rural Jamaican province. Fearon was greatly influenced by the music he heard in the local church of the Seventh-day Adventist. The singer came back to Kingston at the age of 16 where he started his first group, The Brothers. Errol Grandison who had first came across Fearon through his involvement as a member of The Brothers, quickly offered him the chance to take over David Webber as the third member of The Gladiators. Fearon joined the group in 1969, initially as a vocalist, and later as a bassist as well as a background vocalist following the departure of Grandison along with David Webber. He was a part of the group until 1987, frequently performing as the lead singer on songs like “Chatty Chatty Mouth,” “Rich Man Poor Man,” “Get Ready” and “Let Jah Be Praised”. In those years He also served as a session musician for a variety of artists such as Coxsone, Lee Perry, Joe Higgs, Yabby You, Joseph Hookim and Prince Tony Robinson.
