Clinton Steindl (born 15 March 1989) is an Australian professional basketball player with the Perth Wildcats of the National Basketball League (NBL). After having attended the Australian Institute of Sport, his move in the United States in 2008 to participate in college basketball at Saint Mary’s University. Then, in 2012, he came back Australia to join the Cairns Taipans, where he played two seasons. Then, in 2014, he was a part of the Townsville Crocodiles, where he played for two more seasons and was named the NBL Most Improved Player award in 2016. After time playing in Belgium and Greece and Greece, he signed with the Wildcats in the year 2017 before going to win his first NBL championship in 2019. He also played for in the Australian National team.
As a senior in 2011-12 Steindl started his season in the starting line-up, but was forced to sit out three games during between games due to suffering an injury to his ankle in the match during a game against Missouri State. After his return his place in the starting lineup, it was gone. When he was forced to leave from the bench Steindl played as a 3-point specialist as well as a defensive stopper. An injury in February to the starting guard Stephen Holt saw him miss the rest period of regular-season play which led to Steindl being reinstated into his place in the lineup. The five times that were played during Holt’s absence Steindl scored an average of 12.2 scores per contest. For three out of the games, he was the top scorer for in scoring for the Gaels by scoring. The roommates he shared with him as a senior were his fellow Australians Matthew Dellavedova and Mitchell Young.
In 2014, Steindl played in the Queensland Basketball League with the Mackay Meteors. After initially indicating his desire to play in Europe, Steindl joined the Townsville Crocodiles ahead of the 2014–15 NBL season. After averaging 9.6 points in 28 games during his first season with the Crocodiles, Steindl had a four-game stint with the Meteors in 2015.
Steindl returned to the Crocodiles for the 2015–16 season and won the NBL Most Improved Player Award. In 28 games, he averaged 12.7 points per game.
In the 2008-09 season, Steindl moved to the United States to play college basketball for Saint Mary’s. In 122 games in 4 seasons, the player had 70 appearances and scored 6.2 points as well as 2.4 rebound for 20.6 minutes of play.

Steindl was selected to participate in the Australian under-19 team that tour France during 2007. In 2011 Steindl made his debut with the national team’s senior squad known as named the Australian Boomers. The year 2013 was the time he was awarded medals during the Stankovic Cup and silver at the World University Games.
Steindl was born within Mackay, Queensland, and went to high school at Brisbane at the Anglican Church Grammar School. Between 2007 and 2008 Steindl attended an AIS program. Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra where he was a player in the organization’s SEABL team.
Upon completing his college career, Steindl returned home to Queensland and joined the Cairns Taipans of the National Basketball League. Over two seasons with the Taipans, he played 53 games and averaged 4.1 points as a rookie and 7.4 points during the 2013–14 season.
