Pascual is an active part of the Communist Party of Chile (CPC) and has served as regional secretary as well as an active part of the Central Committee, and a national commissioner for Women. In 2001 and in 2005 she was running for deputy in Santiago as a representative of the CCP and was not elected in both instances. From 2002 to 2005, she was the executive secretary of the Alejandro Lipschutz Science Institute (ICAL).
In the 2008 municipal elections, she was elected as a councilor of the community of Santiago. In the 2012 elections , she was elected with the first majority of the communal vote. He resigned his post on March 5, 2014. On January 24 on January 24, the year 2014 she was appointed as Secretary Director for the National Service for Women by the president-elect Michelle Bachelet. She was appointed the 11th of March, 2014 at the beginning of the new government. She became the first militant communist to join a cabinet post 1973, under the presidency of Salvador Allende.
