Christy Essien-Igbokwe is one of the most popular and richest Singer who was born on November 11, 1960 in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Christy Uduak Essien Igbokwe, MFR (11 November 1959 until 30 June , 2011) was an Nigerian actor and musician. She was dubbed “Nigeria’s Lady of Songs” she was well-known for her hit song “Seun Rere”. Essien became the first woman president of Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) as well as the managing director and chairperson for Soul Train Entertainment.

Essien Igbokwe was the manager of her nonprofit Essential Child Care Foundation. She performed alongside her second-oldest son Kaka during the Jan. 2009 Inspire Africa benefit concert. She also took part in the MTN Musical Festival that year. Kaka performs as a hip-hop musician and producer. Essien- Igbokwe’s album Ever Liked My Person, was certified platinum in Nigeria. She died from an intestinal disorder that caused her to die on the 30th of June 2011 at the age of 50 at the Ikeja General Hospital. Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola and musician Victor Uwaifo paid tribute to the musician.
