Christopher White (born 1984) is a English classical pianist, musicologist , and repetiteur. He is a performer worldwide, and not just the classical and romantic repertoire, but also premieres of music that is new. He composed a transcription of four movements from Mahler’s unfinished Tenth Symphony for piano, performing and recording the work.
Opera-wise, White worked as repetiteur and conductor. This included Opera House, the Frankfurt Opera and the English National Opera. He was a pianist fellow in the Tanglewood Music Centre in Massachusetts as well as working with James Levine for Kurt Weill’s Mahagonny and also performing on stage in the role of pianist. He was a solo repetiteur for The Deutsche Oper Berlin in 2014 and was later elevated to Stellvertretender Studyleiter (Deputy Director of the Department of Musical Studies).
He composed the movements from two to five of Mahler’s incomplete Tenth Symphony for piano, following Deryck Cooke’s version. The year 2008 was the first time he recorded an album, by using an arrangement from the opening movement by Ronald Stevenson which is also the work of Deryck Cooke. The recording was made in the Rosslyn Hill Unitarian Chapel, Hampstead and was it was released in the year the year 2010. Christopher Abbot summarized in The Fanfare in a thorough critique: “His transcription is not merely evidence of a familiarity with the Mahlerian idiom; it is infused with a profound understanding of the importance of this work in the larger context of Mahler’s symphonic journey.” White played the transcription in the presence of Mahler’s Society UK. Gustav Mahler Society UK in London on January 17, 2010.

White performed his new work. On the 17th of July, 2003, he performed his first public performance Blue Medusa by John Casken the piece written for piano and bassoon that was composed by the parents of Rosemary Burton to celebrate her birthday. White attended The Royal Academy of Music, finishing in 2007. He was a piano teacher alongside Hamish Milne as well as Nicholas Walker, and piano accompaniment with Michael Dussek.
White played piano concertos by Beethoven, Brahms, and Rachmaninow with the Orchestra of the City in London. He played the Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor by Camille Saint-Saëns at the Philharmonie Berlin in 2016.
