Stewart was named the starting left field spot in the 2019 Tigers who scored a game-winning home run on the opening day of the season on March 28 in a game against Toronto Blue Jays. Stewart scored his first career grand slam in April with the Kansas City Royals, which was also the game-winner during the Tigers 7-4 win. Stewart concluded his season of 2019 with a batting average of .233 in the form of 10 home runs, and 40 RBI in 369 games.
Stewart came back to Erie in 2017 and played the entire season there and posted the .256 per-bat average and 28 RBIs and 86 home runs in the course of 136 games. He was awarded by the Tigers Minor League Player of the Year for the second time consecutively. Stewart began the 2018 season with the Tigers their AAA affiliate known as the Toledo Mud Hens. Stewart was called up to the major leagues on September 9, 2018, as a September call-up and made his debut in the major leagues on that day as an infielder pinch-hitting. Stewart was a student at The University of Tennessee and played in college baseball for the Tennessee Volunteers. In three seasons in Tennessee, Stewart batted .319 with an average of .962 on-base, and also slugging. In the 2016 season Stewart played as a player in the All- Star Futures Game. His total of home runs placed him fifth among all Minor Leaguers across all organizations. His 24 homers, .534 slugging percentage and .924 OPS in 104 games at Lakeland were the best in to the top spot in the Florida State League. He was awarded by the Tigers Minor League Player of the Year.
