In the year 1980, Roth started his career in New York as an assistant to legendary fashion photographer Rico Pughlmann. He was in 1978 when he was introduced to the French-born Eric Domege, who was studying marketing at the Academie Commerciale Internationale (A.C.I.) at the time in Paris. They reconnected at the time in New York in 1983, and in 1984, they established Optical Affairs.

The label Christian Roth celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2009. Christian Roth designers launched 25 limited editions featuring monograms variations that were part of the Series A style. In 2010 Christian Roth ended its 12-year license agreement with Charmant. and regained control of its trademarks. In the year 2011, Christian Roth granted Korean-based eyewear manufacturer BCD Korea, Co. Ltd the right to produce and sell Christian Roth eyewear throughout Asia [11. The year 2012 saw Christian Roth and Eric Domege created the company Optical Affairs Company, and they established their online shop christian- roth.com in New York’s Fashion Week fashion week.
