With a height of 6’0″ and 180 lbs the player played right-handed and batted. Sabo is the current head of the baseball team for Akron’s University of Akron.

Sabo was chosen from the Cincinnati Reds in the second round of the 1983 Major League Baseball Draft.

In a nine-season career, Sabo hit .268 with 116 home runs and 426 RBI in 911 games. Also an excellent fielder, Sabo led National League third basemen in fielding percentage in 1988 and 1990 and was second in 1991.

The year 1982 was the first time he was a collegiate player in season baseball in The Orleans Cardinals of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Sabo came from Detroit, Michigan, the son of a plumber and waitress. The Sabos resided at Rosedale Park, three blocks from the 1968 Championship Detroit Tiger Willie Horton.

Sabo was a student at Detroit Catholic Central High School.
