Christopher Philip James Elmore (born 23 December 1983) is a Welsh Labour Party politician. Elmore has been elected the member of parliament (MP) in the Welsh Labour Party’s Ogmore region since 2015. In June of 2016, Elmore was joined the Justice Select Committee before also becoming a member of the Welsh Affairs Select Committee in July. In October of 2016 Elmore was promoted to the frontbench of the Opposition whip.
In 2017, Chris was elected as Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Rail in Wales. Chris has been a vocal opponent of the Government’s decision to cancel the planned electrification of the Great Western Mainline. In addition, he has also campaigned on issues including passenger safety.
In April 2020, Elmore was made Shadow Minister for Scotland by new leader Keir Starmer.
He was a supporter of Owen Smith in the failed attempt to succeed Jeremy Corbyn in the 2016 Labour Party (UK) leadership election.
