He was a finalist in his first European Championship and was eliminated in a 6-2 loss to Joe Cullen in the first round. Dobey was also a participant in the Grand Slam of Darts for the first time. His wins against Lewis as well as Scott Mitchell saw him advance to the knockout phase, in which he scored the ten dart leg in order to lead 9-5 over Jamie Hughes. But, Hughes closed the deficit to force a decisive leg that Dobey was able to win to reach his first major quarter-final however, he was defeated by James Wade who won 16-5.
After semi-finals at both the 2019 World Grand Prix and 2019 Players Championship Finals, Dobey was once again selected for the Premier League night in Newcastle, this time under the tag of ‘challenger’.
