Chong Chieng Jen (simplified Chinese: Zhang Jian Ren (traditional Chinese: Zhang Jian Ren and pinyin: Zhang Jianren ; born 12 February 1971) is a Malaysian lawyer and politician of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) currently acting as the deputy minister for Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs of Malaysia. He is the owner of a law firm called Chong Brothers Advocates. He is the current MEP (MP) from Malaysia to Stampin as well as a three-term Assemblyman (MLA) from the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly for Kota Sentosa. He was a three-term MLA in Bandar Kuching between 2004 and in the year 2018. He is also the vice- chairman of DAP Malaysia, the Chairman of DAP Sarawak, DAP Socialist Advisor for Youth Sarawak & Kuching, DAP Kuching Branch chairman, and Life-time Member of DAP since 1998.
On the 17th of December, 2012 in the DAP 16th National Congress, Chong was one of seven DAP members appointed as members of the group’s Central Executive Committee (CEC). On May 5, 2013, he ran to run for Bandar Kuching parliamentary seat for the last time in the 2013 Malaysian general election. He won the seat, with an even greater majority of 19,642 votes against the SUPP’s Tan Kai.
Following incumbent Stamping MP Julian Tan Kok Ping’s decision to retire from politics, Chong moved to contest the Stampin parliamentary seat against SUPP president Sim Kui Hian in the 14th Malaysian general election on 9 May 2018, which was seen as a ‘grey’ or unsafe seat following redelineation by the Election Commission of Malaysia (EC). His special assistant, Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen, contested for the Bandar Kuching seat. Chong went on to win with a majority vote of 14,221. Following the historic events of the 14th Malaysian general election which saw the first-ever change in the Government of Malaysia and end of six decades of National Front (BN) rule, on 2 July 2018, Chong was sworn-in as Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs of Malaysia by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King of Malaysia).
At the eleventh Malaysian general elections, Chong became the MP of Bandar Kuching with a 2,041 majority vote. He was later elected as, Sarawak state assemblyman for the newly-created seat Kota Sentosa in following the results of the 11th Sarawak state election.

Chong initially participated during the 10th Malaysian general election, he contested to win his Bandar Kuching parliamentary seat as an DAP candidate. He lost the race to Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) candidate, Song Swee Guan. In the the 10th Sarawak elections for the state, he ran for Padungan state seat. Padungan state seat. Chong has defended his seat in the parliamentary elections during his 12th Malaysian general election by winning an increase in the number of votes. In 2011, he was able to defend his state seat but this time, he was up with Yap Chin Loi. He won with a the majority of 4,824 votes.
On 7 May 2016, during the 11th Sarawak state election, Chong retained his Kota Sentosa state seat with a majority vote of 2,819 against Yap Yau Sin. On 12 November 2017, during the DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC) re-election, Chong was re-elected as one of the party’s five national vice-chairperson.
