Chitose Hajime is one of the most popular and richest Singer who was born on January 5, 1979 in Unknown Value, Japan. Her debut album Hainumikaze (hainumikaze ) came out by a year later. It sold more than 800,000 copies and charted for 57 weeks as well as being the sixteenth top selling album of the year.

The year 2002 was the time she debuted her debut big label hit single with Epic Records – Wadatsumi no Ki (wadatsuminoMu ) (“The Sea-God’s Tree”). It was the third-highest selling single of 2002, behind the only Hikaru Utada’s “traveling”, and Ayumi Hamasaki’s “H”, selling an estimated 850,000 copies. The single was a hit, reaching No. 12 on the Oricon charts. She followed this success with “Haru no Katami” (春のかたみ ) , the ending theme for the anime AYAKASHI – Japanese Classic Horror. The single sold 6,050 copies in its first week, and remained on the charts for seven weeks total. A third single, “Ao no Requiem” (青のレクイエ), was the theme song for the Studio GAGA film Hatsukoi. The following week, Hajime released her third original major album, Hanadairo (ハナダイロ ) . A limited edition version featured a 13th track, “Shinda Onna no Ko” (死んだ女の子 ) with Ryuichi Sakamoto), as well as a DVD containing the music videos for “Kataritsugu Koto”, and “Haru no Katami”.

Following Hanadairo (ハナダイロ ) , Hajime took an extended break to spend time with her family and moving to Okinawa. She returned in 2008 with the release of “CASSINI” (カッシーニ), based on the theme of family and bonding.

Then, in March of 2001, Hajime debuted self-titled mini-album on Augusta Records. The album contained cover versions of four songs that were originally recorded in English from Carole King, The Sugarcubes, Jimi Hendrix and Velvet Underground It was loved that Hajime was asked to release another mini-album no less than five months after. On August 1, 2001, Chitose launched her second mini-album together with Augusta Records entitled Kotonoha (kotonoha ) which included five tracks that were her own creations.

Chitose Hajime (Yuan Chitose , Hajime Chitose born 5 January 1979) is a Japanese singer from Amami Oshima. The singer sings with the shima-uta shima style unique to this region, and features distinct falsetto effects.

She won numerous folk and other competitions in her teens, and traveled to festivals across Japan. She released two folk albums on cassettes on an independent label, the first one at the age of 15 and the second at 18, she was approached by several record labels after a grand prize award in a local folk music contest. She later admitted in an interview the fact that she felt “suspicious of them”, she decided to not join label or go into a career in music rather, opting to pursue a career as a beauticianfollowing the path of her elder sister. She relocated from Osaka to Osaka at the end of 1998. However, she was suffering from asthma and suffered severe reactions to many of the chemicals employed by beauty professionals. She resigned from school, but prior to returning back to Amami Oshima, she made contact with the company that manages artists, Office Augusta, the only company to go all the way to meet her on her island home in the flurry of activity to sign her up at the age of 18.

She released three more singles before her second major album, Nomad Soul (ノマド・ソウル , nomado souru) , was released in 2003. Shortly after a concert tour, and the release of a live album and DVD in 2004, Hajime announced that she would be getting married, and was to have her first child in 2005.
