Chiril Lucinschi is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on November 14, 1970 in Chisinau, Moldova. Chiril Lucinschi (Romanian pronunciation:”ki’ril lu’tSinski” ; born on the 14th of November, 1970 Chisinau) is a Moldovan businessman and politician, who was a member of the Parliament of Moldova between December 2010 until February 2017 within the faction of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova. He was also a professional basketball player and from 1999 to 2004 was president of the Basketball Federation of Moldova. He is the son of the former president of Moldova, Petru Lucinschi.
On February 22, 2017, Chiril Lucinschi announced that he will not be a member of the House and resigning from his position as a member of the Liberal Democratic Party.
On May 25, 2017. Chiril Lucinschi was retained by Anti-Corruption Prosecutors after being accused of having been involved with the billion dollar Moldovan fraudulent bank account. He later stated that he was not innocent. On the 27th of May Lucinschi was placed under house under arrest for thirty days. The time being extended by another 30 days on the 24th of June and another time on the 20th of July. 1 August 2017 saw it was announced that the Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office has completed the criminal investigation and brought the Lucinschi case for trial. As per the Prosecution Office press-release, a firm that Lucinschi is one of the beneficiaries, received five million euros from failed Moldovan banking institution “Unibank” in 2013, and later transferred $401,650 to a group of companies outside the country, and then into those accounts belonging to Rouseau Alliance LP. The latter also pays back the loan to the bank that failed later “Banca de Economii” (BEM). In addition, between 2012 and 2014 several offshore businesses transferred four million dollars in cash in cash to IPA International Project Agency. It was later discovered that the funds came from fraudulent loans made by BEM, Unibank and Banca Sociala through offshore firms. According to the prosecutor, Lucinschi could face as much as 10 years jail time for alleged money laundering, and for not declaring ownership.
