After winning an Olympic silver medal in her country of origin at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia, Cheryl teamed with Scholz again to co-publish an revised edition of the novel called Between the Sheets: The Silver Lining through Canadian book publisher Polished Publishing Group (PPG) Copyright 2011.
Bernard wrapped up the 2009–10 curling season by winning the 2010 Players’ Championships, her first Grand Slam victory in her career and was named 2010 MVP by her peers during that event.
The Bernard team’s success during this period qualified them for the 2009 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials. They were one of four teams to directly earn a spot at the event nicknamed “The Roar of the Rings”. At “the Roar”, Bernard’s rink almost went undefeated, having lost only their final round robin game to Stefanie Lawton. Their 6–1 record earned them a direct spot in the final, which they won. They defeated Shannon Kleibrink in the final by a score of 7–6. The game came down to the final shot, where Bernard had to draw to the full eight-foot to win.
Bernard established her own insurance company at age 23. during the course of her business she did not reach another national championship for the past 11 years. In between she made it to the finals in JVC/TSN’s Skins Game in 1999, and advanced through to provincials time in the year 2000. She also was one of the Canadian Women’s Curling Tour champion in 2004. The year 2006 was the first time she fell in the first Women’s Players’ Championships final in a match against Jennifer Jones.

Bernard was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta. She started curling at the aged of 8. The year 1988 was the first time she was eliminated at her first Alberta provincial finals. However after four years she won the provincial title and earn an entry into the 1992 Scott Tournament of Hearts the national championship for curling in Canada along with her team comprised of Allison Earl, Barb Davies and Bev Kellerman. In the next season, Bernard took home the title of provincial mixed alongside her husband Terry Meek.
The year 1995 was the time Bernard was eliminated from in the Alberta provincial final, but bounced back next year to win the championship and send her to the Hearts of 1996 again, but with an different team. Her team comprised of Karen Ruus, Barb Sherrington and Judy Pendergast had a 7-4 round of robin record. When it came to playoffs Bernard’s team took the lead in their opening game of the 1 2. 2-page play-off game against Ontario (skipped in the process by Marilyn Bodogh). The result was enough to send the Alberta squad to play in the championship where they played Bodogh to play Bodogh in another rematch that they lost, 7-4.
Bernard won her third provincial championship in 2007. At the 2007 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, her team of Susan O’Connor, Carolyn Darbyshire and Cori Bartel finished with a 6–5 record, tying them with Prince Edward Island and Ontario. Bernard’s team beat Ontario in the first tie breaker, but were unable to beat P.E.I.’s Suzanne Gaudet (Birt) whom they lost to 5–4. In 2008, Bernard’s team played in their first Grand Slam of Curling final, losing the 2008 Trail Appliances Curling Classic to Shannon Kleibrink’s rink. In 2009, Bernard won her fourth Alberta title and represented the province at the 2009 Scotties Tournament of Hearts where her team finished with another 6–5 record. However, this would keep them out of the playoffs.
