Chatchai Sasakul (Thai: chatrchay saasakul ; RTGS: Chatchai Sasakun ; born on February 5, 1970) is a Thai former professional boxer from the flyweight division. He held his Lineal as well as the WBC flyweight title. In addition to the professional status of a boxer Sasakul is also an expert in snooker.
On the 30th of August in 2008, Sasakul took on Cristian Mijares as who is the WBA and WBC Super Flyweight champions who are unified. But he was stopped after three rounds. As per a physician who gave the fighter with medication following the fight it could be the Thai boxer’s final professional fight. The main disadvantage for Sasakul was the fact that it was necessary to travel on another flight to Mexico via Germany after he had issues on the first one that attempted to fly via Hong Kong. At the time he arrived to Mexico the fight was just three days away. And the fighter was suffering from jet fatigue.
On March 31 of 2007, Sasakul knocked down Lito Sisnorio, an Filipino boxer from the Philippines. Sisnorio reported to have suffered brain injuries in the fight. Following the next day’s failed brain surgeries, Sisnorio was pronounced dead at Piyamin Hospital in Thailand at 9:15 pm. The controversy over the fight resulted from the fact that the role played by Sisnorio of the contest was not recognized through the Philippine Games and Amusement Board. His death caused the Board to prohibit all fights with Filipino boxers from Thailand from April 2007.
