In the 2009 PDC World Championship, Losper defeated Guyana’s Sudesh Fitzgerald in the preliminary round , but fell in the first round to Colin Osborne 3-0 in the first round.
The month of August was 2008 when Losper traveled to Melbourne for the Australian part of the PDC Pro Tour. In the end, he made it to his final match of Shoalhaven Classic and also the last 16 in the Australian Players Championship. In the following month Losper did well to defend the South African Open title with the victory of 4-1 against Mark Jackson, which earned him a spot in the 2009 PDC World Championship. In the process of securing the second time winning the title, Losper was the top player of the qualifying round with a 12dart win that was the highest of the event. The title also meant that Losper was able to compete at the South African Masters for the second consecutive year, but the tournament ended 4-1 in his favor in the final to Wayne Mardle.

When he first started playing darts in the year 1991, Losper’s debut appearance in a major tournament was at 2003’s WDF World Cup with the South African team. After staying with them for three years before joining the Professional Darts Corporation in 2006 and made his debut PDC tournament appearance at the South African Open. He did not qualify for the final stage of the tournament, but he returned in 2007 to make it through the 155 players field to beat Lodewyk Marais by a score of 4-0 at the end of the tournament. Being among the best four athletes of that tournament, he was able to qualify for the telecast of the South African Masters the next day, when the best four played with the best four athletes of the PDC. Losper had to play the then World champion Raymond van Barneveld and despite losing 4-1, was just the one South African player to win one of the professional matches.
This South African Open win also ensured Losper an invitation to the 2007 inaugural Grand Slam of Darts. Losper lost the three group games, but he did lose the group to Andy Hamilton, Terry Jenkins and Vincent van der Voort. He was also a qualifier to play in the 2008 PDC World Championship but lost 3-1 in the opening game to John Part, who went to win the tournament.
