Charles Chukwuma Soludo is one of the most popular and richest Economist who was born on July 28, 1960 in Aguata, Anambra State, Nigeria. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR (born 28 July 1960a) is a Nigerian economics professor as well as the former Chairman and Governor on the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Chukwuma was appointed Governor on May 29, 2004. Charles Chukwuma is also a part of the British Department for International Development’s International Advisory Group.

On 16 September 2019, the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, appointed him as a member of a newly formed 8-member Economic Advisory Council (EAC), that will be reporting directly to the President.

Soludo was appointed to as a federal official in 2003 when he joined the federal government. Prior to his mai 2004 appointment as the bank’s chairman and the post of Chief Economic Adviser to President Obasanjo, he of Chief Economic Advisor to the former the President Obasanjo and the Chief Executive Officer of the National Planning Commission of Nigeria. On January 8, 2008, during his address addressed to members of the Nigerian Economic Society, he predicted the consolidation of the private banking sector and stated that “By the end of 2008, there will be fewer banks than there are today. The restructuring of the banking industry has been attracting funds from local and foreign investors, which have increased banks’ ability to lend to customers”. Chukwuma wants to have Nigeria become Africa’s leading financial hub and believes that microfinance is essential for the federal administration’s policies in economics.
