Charles Adamu is one of the most popular and richest Boxer who was born on May 8, 1977 in Accra, Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Charles Adamu (born 8 May 1977) is a Ghanain professional boxer. As an amateur, he fought for Ghana at the 1998 Kuala Lumpur Commonwealth Games winning the bronze medal. He also competed at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games reaching the second round. Professionally, he is twice a winner of the Commonwealth super middleweight title.

The 18th December 2009 Adamu was back in the United Kingdom to challenge once another time in the fight for an opportunity to win the Commonwealth title. In a match that went for through all 12 rounds Adamu was victorious in an ensuing split decision over Britain’s Carl Dilks to regain the title he won in 2003. Similar to the time he was crowned, however, Adamu was to be beaten in the debut defense, this time to the prospective opponent George Groves. The fight, held on the 3rd of April, 2010 concluded in the sixth minute after Groves had knocked Adamu in the third round three times in the contest.

The following fight to be noted for the former Commonwealth champion was on June 18, 2005. It caused Adamu was forced to travel one again but again to Canada. The opponent he faced in a fight to the WBC intercontinental championship came from Jamaican Otis Grant and the fight ended in an unbeaten third time in his career with a loss on points again for Adamu. Over the subsequent three years Adamu was only boxing on three occasions, and he scored three more wins before traveling again in South Africa to fight for the African Boxing Unions version of the super middleweight belt. The fight that took place on the 13th of September 2008, against Malawi’s Isaac Chilemba resulted in heartbreak yet again for Adamu after he fell to defeat for the 4th time in an 11-round point loss in a title match.

Adamu’s first professional fight began in August 2001 when he scored his win in the fight against Bob Abiro in Kaneshie, Ghana. He went on to fight seven times, and won each time before , on August 1, 2003, going into England. United Kingdom and defeating England’s Matthew Barney for the Commonwealth super middleweight title. After the title victory, Adamu went back to Ghana and had two more wins before heading back to Europe again, the second time, to Germany and fought Ukrainian Vitali Tsypko to win the WBA Inter-continental crown on February 28th, 2004. The match against Tsypko took place over a long period of time, but ended with a loss to the Ghanain.

Adamu’s subsequent fight following the defeat came on March 12 2004 , in the United Kingdom once more and was the first defense of Adamu’s Commonwealth title. The British fighter Carl Froch, who would later become champion of the WBC World Super Middleweight champion and avenged Adamu’s defeat for the second time in a row during an intense fight. In a subsequent interview in 2007 Froch was to refer to the Ghanain as his most difficult opponent to date.
