Chanda Kochhar (nee Advani, born 17 November 1961) was the chief executive and managing director manager of ICICI Bank. But on October 4, 2018, she resigned her position due to reports of corruption. In the course of investigations into Videocon poor loans, she was ordered to do so by the Board of ICICI Bank to take indefinite leave. It was discovered that the Central Bureau of Investigation named Chanda Kochhar and her husband as the beneficiaries in the financial scam. In the Justice B N Shrikrishna probe panel concluded that Kochhar had violated the ICICI Bank’s Code of Conduct, following which her employment was terminated and all of benefits and entitlements removed. Following her departure, Sandeep Bakhshi, who was acting as interim CEO and Managing Director, was appointed the CEO and MD full-time.

The year was 1996. Kochhar led the newly established Infrastructure Industry Group of ICICI Bank with the aim to develop specialized industry experts in the areas of telecom, power, and transportation.
