Posthumus was a member of the Thunderbirds from the University of British Columbia for his freshman basketball season at the college. In the 16 games Posthumus was averaging 1.7 scores and 2.8 rebound. However, the team ended their season on a record of 25-3 and also an impressive 13-game winning streak as well. Posthumus was not a basketball player during his sophomore year as redshirted and ended in transferring into Howard College in Big Spring, Texas in the United States the next year. After the completion of his studies, Posthumus took part with an exhibition game for the Chicago Bulls at the NBA Summer League however, he wasn’t invited for the training camp. On August 1st the 1st of August, 2014, Posthumus made his debut professional signing for Levanga Hokkaido of the Japan Basketball League (JBL). Posthumus made his professional debut on the 11th of October of 2014, in a game in a game against Mitsubishi Diamond Dolphins, scoring 16 points and grabbing 13 rebound. In November 23, and 24, during games against Tsukuba Robots Tsukuba Robots, he recorded back-to-back double doubles, and also grabbing an all-time high of 15 rebounds during the first match. He ended his time playing for the Japanese team by averaging 10.1 points as well as 8.1 rebound in just 23 minutes of play.
On January 9, 2015, Posthumus inked with the Mississauga Power of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL). He debuted with the Power by scoring 34 points and posting 22 rebounds. In all three of his games, Posthumus put up double-doubles, but he failed to lead his team to any wins.
