Chad Alan Girodo (born February 6 1990) was an American former professional baseball player. He was a part of Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Toronto Blue Jays, who were the first team to draft him in the year 2013. Girodo was part of the Blue Jays’ minor league organization for a few seasons before being summoned in the Major Leagues for the first time on April 22, 2016.
On the 22nd of April in 2016, Girodo was summoned up for the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays gave him two no-hitter inning in relief in the match against Oakland Athletics in his Major League debut. Following Brett Cecil was placed on the disabled list, Girodo became the main lefty specialist for the Blue Jays. He was assigned back in Buffalo the 23rd of April and was recalled on May 3. Girodo was optioned in Buffalo towards the close of May and then recalled by Blue Jays on June 15. On February 9 on the 9th of February in 2017, Girodo was assigned to assignments to the Blue Jays. Once he cleared waivers, the Blue Jays went to Triple-A Buffalo and invited to Major League spring training. Girodo was a full-time player playing in minor leagues finishing 2-for-4 with an 2.96 ERA in 31 games. On the 24th of January in 2018 The Blue Jays invited Girodo to spring training. He was released on April 25.
On July 10, 2018, Girodo signed with the Chicago Dogs of the independent American Association. He was released on April 9, 2019.
Girodo was signed to a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 7, 2018, and was assigned to the AA Tulsa Drillers. He pitched in seven games for the Drillers and six for the Oklahoma City Dodgers before he was released on June 16.
For 2014 Girodo got assigned to the advanced-A Dunedin Blue Jays for the whole season. In 47 appearances , which equated to an all-time high of 76/3 innings He pitched to 7-3 with a 2.47 ERA, and 81 strikeouts. Girodo started the 2014 season with Dunedin and played as the Florida State League mid-season All- Star. He was transferred into the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats in June, before being promoted to Triple-A Buffalo Bisons in September. In his 45 appearances total during 2015 Girodo was able to post a impressive 1.34 ERA, 4-2 record with 58 strikeouts 60/3 innings. In the offseason, he was a part of seven games with his team, the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, recording an 1.80 ERA in 10 innings pitched.
