In early 2015, Westrup switched her citizenship to Norwegian to increase her access to sponsors and improve her chances of qualifying for the 2016 Summer Olympics. The 2015 Gateway Classic in Phoenix, Arizona was her first tournament as a representative of Norway. Unbeknownst to her, her Swedish passport was automatically cancelled when she applied for Norwegian citizenship. She was left without a travel document and had to navigate her way to Houston’s Norwegian consulate to obtain a Norwegian passport. As a reserve she completed the Olympic Qualifications, but was defeated by Marianne Skarpnord and Suzann Pettersen.

Westrup was a successful amateur athlete and was part the Swedish national team in 2001. She finished third at 2002 British Girls Championship and was the European Girls Team Championship runner-up in Turin. She won the 2003 Junior Solheim Cup and won the 2005 European Lady Junior Team Championship with a six-person team that included Anna Nordqvist, Pernilla Lindberg, and was the lowest individual scorer at 2006 Women’s World Amateur Team Championship, Espirito Santo Trophy in South Africa. She was runner-up in 2006 Espirito Santa Trophy, and third in team portion of 2007 Ladies’ British Open Championship. Although still an amateur, Westrup was runner-up in the 2005 Ladies Finnish Masters. This is her best result on Ladies European Tour.
After her father, Charlie Westrup was named head coach of the Norwegian Golf Association, Westrup moved 11 years ago from her home in Ahus, Sweden, to Baerum Norway. She moved to Perstorp in Sweden at 16 to attend the Swedish National Golf Gymnasium, where she graduated in 2005. At Florida State University she studied sport management with a minor in communications. She won five collegiate championships. She was a two-time NGCA All-American first team selection (2006), 2007 and a four-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference Scholar Athlete selection (2006)-09.
