It also explores the fraught relationship African American women have with food and offers a powerful new path forward that respects their cultural heritage and culinary heritage.

Lucy Negro, Redux has been adapted as a ballet titled Attitude: Lucy Negro Redux. It premiered at the Polk Theater of the Tennessee Performing Arts Center on February 8, 2019 by the Nashville Ballet. According to the New York Times Paul Vasterling, artistic director of the Nashville Ballet, choreographed the work. Kayla Rowser danced the part of Lucy and Rhiannon Giddens scored and performed the ballet.
