Carolene Mays is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on July 21, 1961 in Evansville, Indiana, United States. Carolene was elected to Indiana’s Legislature in 2002. She served three terms as State Representative. She was a member of the National Black Caucus of State Legislators and National Conference of State Legislators as well as Women in Government. Carolene was forced to retire from the State Legislature in November 2008, after she unsuccessfully attempted to run for Congress.

Governor Eric Holcomb has appointed Carolene as the Executive Director of White River State Park’s (WRSP) Development Commission. She was first appointed by Governor Mike Pence in 2016. She also hosts Community Link on WISH-TV.

Among her many awards, Carolene recently was named by the Center for Leadership Development as the Madam CJ Walker Outstanding Woman of the Year. She received a 2017 Community Leader and Servant Award from Martin University and the 2017 Girl Scouts Award of Courage. She was also honored with a Sagamore of the Wabash by former Governor Mike Pence.

One of her recent business and community accomplishments was to moderate the 2017-2018 Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series, developing future leaders. She is the first and only African-American female leader to hold this position in its 43 year history.

She was a member of the IURC’s board of directors, the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners and President of Mid-America Regulatory Conference. As Chairperson of Critical Infrastructure Committee. She was also a member of the Water and Washington Action Committees. For her leadership in cyber- and physical security, she was named one of the Top 50 Smart Grid Today Smart Grid Pioneers for 2013.
