Carmen Everts, born 12 April 1968 in Wilhelmshaven, is a German politician and political scientist, civil servant, former member of Parliament of Hesse for Social Democratic Party of Germany and expert on political extremism. She was named by the Hesse government as the head of the department of the Hessian State Agency for Civic Education in 2009. This agency is responsible for conducting research on East German communism and for demographic research.

She was elected to the Parliament in Hesse at the 2008 Hesse state elections.

Everts, along with fellow MPs Silke Tsch, Jurgen Walter, and Dagmar Metzger declared that she would not vote for Andrea Ypsilanti to be Prime Minister of Hesse in a planned election. Ypsilanti was to form a government that included support from the Leftist Extremist Party Die Linke. This party is the successor to the East German communist party. Everts said that her decision was based in her dislike of the party Die Linke which she claimed has “extremist” elements. Everts has criticised Die Linke for having a “divided and negative attitude towards democracy” and the rule of the law. Ypsilanti lost her bid for Prime Minister without the support of her parliamentary party. New elections were held in 2009.
