Cameron Mooney is one of the most popular and richest Australian Rules Footballer who was born on September 26, 1979 in Wagga Wagga, Australia. Cameron Mooney, born 26 September 1979, is an Australian rules footballer who used to play for the North Melbourne Football Clubs of the Australian Football League (AFL). Mooney, a forward who stands 1.95m (6 ft 5in) tall and weighs 99 kg (218 lb), is well-known for his passion as well as his poor Tribunal history, where he holds the record of the most suspensions by an AFL/VFL player in one season.
After the heartache of 2005 Mooney experienced relative joy in 2006 when he won a pre-season primeship. His premiership season wasn’t as successful. His 100th game was also a loss. He was suspended. Geelong lost the game, despite leading West Coast Eagles by 54 in the third quarter. Mooney was removed from the team on four occasions in 2006. The club then fined him a week’s wages. Mooney was good, but this lack of discipline was considered detrimental to the team. Mooney requested to be traded at the end of 2006 season to another club. However, he was persuaded to stay with Geelong for another year.
Mooney was selected in the 2007 All-Australian Team, and was part of Geelong’s AFL premiership-winning team in the same year. He also represented the Dream Team state team in the AFL Hall of Fame Tribute Match in 2008, as well as being the leading goalkicker for Geelong in 2007.
After a series of injuries that kept him out of the team and the fact that younger players such as Tom Hawkins had stepped up to the mark, Mooney announced his retirement at the end of the 2011 season.
After four unsuccessful years on the field, Mooney flourished in 2004, which catapulted Geelong into premiership contention. Mooney was injured in 2005. In the elimination final, Mooney defeated Melbourne. Mooney’s most memorable moment was the one after the siren against the Sydney Swans. Geelong lost by three points to Nick Davis, who scored for Sydney with just 2 seconds left. This gave the Swans their only lead throughout the game. Mooney was devastated by the outcome and openly wept.
