Cam Broten is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on April 29, 1978 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Broten was born in Regina (Saskatchewan) and spent his childhood in Northern Saskatchewan at La Loche, Green Lake and Meadow Lake before moving to Saskatoon, where he attended Marion M. Graham Collegiate. Hans Broten was his grandfather and served in the Legislative Assembly during the 1960s under Tommy Douglas, Woodrow Lloyd.

Broten declared his intention to run as the leader of the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party on September 5, 2012. He was one among four candidates, along with Ryan Meili (MD), Trent Wotherspoon (MLA), who Broten would appoint as his deputy leader after the leadership election. Erin Weir, however, withdrew prior to the vote. Broten was elected to the leadership after the second ballot.

Broten resigned as party leader on April 11, 2016. He thus became only the second Saskatchewan CCF/NDP leader since before World War II to have never served as premier.

In the 2016 election Broten ran in Saskatoon Westview, a reconfigured version of his old riding, and lost to Saskatchewan Party candidate David Buckingham by 232 votes.

Broten was elected first to the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan during the 2007 provincial election. He was reelected at the 2011 provincial election.

Cameron Paul “Cam” Broten, born April 29, 1978, is a Canadian politician. From 2007 to 2016, he represented Saskatoon Massey Place’s constituency in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan. In the leadership election of 2013, Broten was elected leader of the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party. He took office on March 9, 2013. Broten resigned as leader of the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party on April 11, 2016, just days after he lost the seat he was contesting in the Saskatchewan general elections. Trent Wotherspoon was elected interim leader of the party in April 2016.

Broten, a music therapist at Palliative Care Services, in the Saskatoon Health Region, married Ruth Megan Eliason on August 1, 2004 in Swift Current. Ruth Megan was born in the Stewart Valley, near Swift Current. His wife chose to keep her maiden surname. They now live in Saskatoon, with their four daughters. Their oldest child, a boy, was born preterm in 2009 but died that day.

His popularity and support among the party grew quickly, with Broten receiving strong endorsements in two party constitutionally-required leadership review votes since his election with 98.7 per cent of delegates’ votes on a secret ballot at the party’s convention on May 31, 2014 during the party’s convention in Moose Jaw and on May 23, 2015 he received 98 per cent of delegates’ votes on a secret ballot during the party’s convention in Regina.
