Byron Wesley Parker, born March 7, 1981, is a former gridiron cornerback. In 2004, he was undrafted and free to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He played college basketball and football at Tulane.
After being released from Dallas, Parker rejoined the Argonauts one week later. He was their starting cornerback upon his return. Parker broke the CFL record for interception returns in a single season on October 14, 2006. He returned a 75-yard interception for a touchdown in Edmonton. He finished the season with a CFL-record 348 interception returns yards. This surpasses Eric Carter’s 2003 record record of 300 yards. Parker was a CFL All-Star in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
Parker was traded to the Edmonton Eskimos on September 28, 2009 for future considerations.
After his release from the Eagles, Parker returned to Toronto as the Argonauts deferred his contract when he signed with Philadelphia. The Eagles had him on a weight gain program and he bulked from his 2008 CFL weight of 193 to 227 and he found he had to re-adjust to the Canadian game; reducing his weight to 210 by the time he reported to practice on August 20, 2009, but still finding himself tired out by the longer, wider field. Parker reported that the Eagles offered him another opportunity to return on August 20 but he refused, feeling more comfortable with the Argonauts.
Parker was cut by the Jaguars in training camp but signed with the Argonauts January 24, 2005 and played only six games.

Parker enrolled at Tulane initially on a college basketball scholarship. He played on the team from 2001 through 2003. In 2003, Parker also won the NCAA Slam Dunk competition. The slam-dunk competition won Parker the attention of Chris Scelfo (Tulane’s football coach), and also the NFL’s football scouts. In his senior year of high school, Parker accepted Scelfo’s invitation to join the school’s football team. In 2005, he was able to demonstrate his slam-dunk skills in a CFL match at Molson Stadium against Montreal Alouettes. Parker was a wide receiver and caught a 42-yard touchdown. He celebrated by dunkin’ the ball over the crossbar uprights. Parker also has a 43-inch vertical leap.
The Jacksonville Jaguars signed Parker as an undrafted agent on April 26, 2004. After training camp ended on August 1, Parker was waived by his team.
In 2006, Parker signed a one-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL but was cut by the team on July 31.
