In the beginning of 2018 Questel had been one among many LREM members who were part of an informal working group of the parliamentary on Islam created by Florent Boudie to support the bill of the government aimed at organising and overseeing the funding of the Muslim religion in France.

In the year 2005 Questel had been a part of the Socialist Party. In the primaries of the party in the lead-up to the presidential election, Questel endorsed Arnaud Montebourg. However, when Benoit Hamon became the party’s candidate, Questel left and joined LREM.

In this capacity, he was the parliament’s rapporteur on a proposal to establish a municipal police in Paris (2019) and (alongside Raphaël Schellenberger) on territorial reforms (2019). In addition to his committee assignments, Questel chairs the French-Kosovar Parliamentary Friendship Group.
