Tasker was born on the 27th of September, 1987 at Lawrenny, Wales. As a child, Tasker was a talented athlete. This led to joining the Carmarthen Harriers athletics club at the age of 11. With a focus on the 100m 400m, 200m, and 100m disciplines He broke club records when he was a youngster and also won all distances at numerous events including the Welsh Championship, where he won the 200m in Swansea in 2008. He also won in the BUSA Championships, the 400m in Bedford in 2007. In 2006, he was ranked as the UK’s best under-20 participant in indoor 400m. But he did not get to the top of the sport. He quit running in 2009.

On 22nd and 23rd February of 2014, Tasker took part in representing Great Britain in the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia as a four-man bobsleigh, racing as part of the team alongside Stuart Benson, Joel Fearon and pilot John James Jackson in GBR1. This was his first Olympics. GBR1 placed fifth However, in 2017, two Russian teams were disqualified from the competition due to doping-related violations, bringing the British team to bronze. Following that, the Sochi Olympics Tasker undertook training to become a bobsleigh driver during the summer of 2014.

After a career in which he competed at six World Championships and an Olympics, in October 2018 Tasker announced his retirement from competition.

On 4 January 2018, he suffered a stroke, ruling him out of taking part at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

In 2010, as he was working towards a degree at the level of Biochemistry from Bath University. University of Bath, he was introduced to the bobsleigh sport via British athlete John James Jackson. He quickly adapted to this sport, and was included in the 4-man team which was first in the 11-12 British Championships held at Winterberg. Tasker was also one of the four-man teams that were representing Great Britain at the 2013 World Championships, coming in fifth place and also at in the 2013 Bobsleigh European Championships, winning the silver medal. Tasker was also one of four members in the squad which finished second at the Lake Placid World Cup meeting in 2013.
