He continued to be the tagging midfielder despite some issues in the tribunal between 2004 and 2005. his excellent form took him close to winning the Copeland Trophy, coming second to James Clement in 2005.
While he could not retain his 2005 form, he continued to be a fan favourite in 2006, showing grit and determination to win the ball, highlighted in a match against the Geelong Football Club, in which he bravely laid a huge tackle on Geelong big man Cameron Mooney.
In 2006, Holland appeared in several advertisements on television for a lottery advertisement along with the NRL’s Matthew Johns. He also made a cameo appearance as himself in the soap opera Neighbours.
In 2002, he began with a three-goal performance against Richmond and followed that up with eight goals a month later in the West Coast Eagles, to be the top goalie of the entire season following round 2. Then he was silent for the remainder of the season. He was injured in his back, which resulted in one month of absence from the game, but he could not return to the squad until the final week of the season. He was dropped in round 22 and was not able to participate in the Magpies their first finals appearance since 1994, including taking part at 2003’s AFL Grand Final. 2003 saw him shift to a tagging role within the midfield instead of the inconsistency small forward who was a goal- kicking player. He was involved in a fight in the 2003 season with Scott Camporeale of Carlton leaving his nose bloody In the latter part of 2003, he got disqualified after he slapped Paul Williams of Sydney in the stomach. He did not make it to the first final , but was able to return for the preliminary as well as the Grand Final sides.

The player made his first appearance midway into 1998 as a small-forward and was a regular in the team following his debut. He played for two more seasons with the Dockers before being transferred to Collingwood in the year 2000. Holland quickly became an excellent player for the Magpies and was popular with fans during his first season scoring 28 goals in just 21 games.
